- Preservation Hall. This former residence,
tavern and blacksmith shop located at 726 St. Peter Street, just off Bourbon Street in New Orleans, opened as an art and photo gallery
featuring images and paintings of local Jazz musicians in the late 1950s. In 1961, musician-entrepreneur Alan
Jaffe transformed it into a concert hall to capture the authentic
music of the old Jazz Masters and to serve as a sanctuary for these ageing artists where they could perform in a concert setting.
While most of the "Mens" who created the original Jazz art form have now passed on, the Hall continues to offer
live Jazz 7 nights a week performed by the best exponents of the original New Orleans style. The Holy Grail of
Traditional Jazz afficianados and conoisseurs. www.preservationhall.com
